WHY should I have my racket strung now?
You shouldn’t wait for your strings to break as the restring will already be past its best performance. Strings naturally lose tension over time and this tension loss can result in an extreme loss of ball/shuttlecock control.
Beginners/Improvers
Beginners will be in the process of learning the various strokes, so will Initially lack swing speed and power. For them, lower tension and a soft synthetic gut string will allow their arms and shoulders to acclimatise to the new work demands and prevent conditions such as the dreaded Tennis Elbow or damaged rotator cuff in the shoulder.

A synthetic gut in a 1.30mm gauge would suit most rackets and playing styles while offering you a good combination of power & durability.

Intermediate/Club Players
As beginners progress into the Intermediate stages, then they will probably stay with the same string but will be seeking more control, so adding a few lbs to the string tension would definitely be helpful.

Synthetic Gut will be suitable, though a softer Multifilament will add comfort and power.

Advanced/Pro Players
Advanced players will lean towards the higher string tensions as they have developed a game that is reliant on more exacting ball/shuttlecock placement.
Tennis
Option 1 (Maximum Control/Spin)
Most Advanced/Pro players are hitting the ball that much harder so therefore require much more control. A polyester string at around 58lbs will provide the needed control and spin to hit hard while also giving you added durability.
Option 2 (All Round Performance)
Many Pro’s now use hybrid restrings. This is where you mix and match 2 opposing string types to get the best of both worlds. String the racket with a polyester main string (down/vertical strings) and a Synthetic Gut or Multifilament cross string (across/horizontal strings) to get the control & spin from the poly and the power and comfort from the softer Syn Gut or Multi. We have pre-selected some outstanding hybrid combo’s for you to try.
Squash
String
Choose a 1.20mm Multifilament string up to 30lbs for added control. Use a 1.25mm string if you have too many early string breakages.
Tension
String between 27lbs & 30lbs depending on what control is required. Go higher for maximum control.
Badminton
String
String with a braided multifilament as already described.
Tension
String up to 26lbs. Beyond 26lbs and you will lose power and touch. These tensions are for players who generate really fast racket swing speed.
Racketball
String
Choose a 1.30mm Multifilament.
Tension
String around 47lbs but go up to 50lbs if added control is required.

Senior Players
As this experience may also coincide with added years (happens to us all!), a soft multifilament at a lowish tension of around 52lbs will be of enormous benefit as this will absorb more shock and vibration whilst providing you effortless power.
Tennis
String
Multifilaments are the ideal string type for sensitive arms and shoulders, Tennis Elbow sufferers and for those wishing to get the best possible playing comfort and effortless power.

Drop tensions down to around 54lbs. Opt for the lowest tension and softest strings for your game. You have earned it!!
